Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
LIGHTHOUSE Consulting's first client, the Gates Foundation sought research support and engagement with numerous education reform organizations in the Puget Sound region. Data gathered and relationships developed as a result of this project helped the foundation to make smarter, more targeted grants.
UW Tacoma Education Program Ed.D. Program Evaulation
UWTacoma's Education Program wanted an evaluation of its doctoral program that woudl gather sensitive feedback from current students and uncover opportunities for improvement. LIGHTHOUSE designed and executed an evaluation plan that will provides critical information for administrators seeking to better serve future students enrolled in the program.
Tacoma Public Schools Black Male Learner Initiative
LIGHTHOUSE Consulting contracted with district leaders to provide research and administrative support to this new initiative designed to improve academic outcomes for a woefully underserved group of students. We developed a compelling theory of action for the initiative, gathered data on teacher beliefs and offered professional development to teachers and administrators struggling to serve their students. The project has been nationally recognized and has changed the trajectory for thousands of students in every corner of Washington State"s 3rd largest school district.
Puget Sound Educational Service District
Racial Equity Policy and Implementation Plan
PSESD sought to align its policies with its ambitious goal to eliminate opportunity gaps for all of the school districts it serves by the year 2020. LIGHTHOUSE Consulting researched cutting edge racial equity policies around the country and drafted a policy and implementation plan that was unanimously approved by the Board of Directors. The policy has had regional impact, spurring conversation and action in classrooms and boardrooms.
University of Washington GEAR UP
LIGHTHOUSE Consulting was brought in to help organize and facilitate two statewide convenings of educators working to increase college awareness and readiness for low-income middle and high school students. We daylighted evidence-based strategies and promising practices to increase college access, matriculation and graduation for students of color across Washington State.
Black Education Strategy Roundtable
After receiving a capacity building grant to expand its reach statewide, BESR contracted with LIGHTHOUSE Consulting to provide a full range of strategic planning, board and resource development and stakeholder outreach services. This engagement has positioned BESR for a period of expansion and greater influence.
